Basketball Recap: Tawas Area Braves vs. Alcona Tigers
After flying high against Whittemore-Prescott last Friday, Tawas Area came back down to earth. The Tawas Area Braves were beaten by the Alcona Tigers 62-31 on Tuesday. The Braves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-12.
Garrett Somers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Alcona, going 6-for-8 en route to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. Somers continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Borsvold, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 14 points.
Tawas Area's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Alcona, their record now sits at 17-3.
Looking ahead, Tawas Area will be playing in front of their home fans against Beaverton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Beaverton will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Tawas Area surely won't give up without a fight. As for Alcona, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers challenge the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
