Soccer Game Preview: Hillsboro vs. Gillespie

The Hillsboro Hiltoppers are taking a road trip to challenge the Gillespie Miners at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hillsboro's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Thursday, Hillsboro didn't have quite enough to beat Greenville and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Gillespie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 4-2 to Carlinville.

Gillespie's loss dropped their record down to 2-6-1. As for Hillsboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Hillsboro was able to grind out a solid victory over Gillespie in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hiltoppers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
