Basketball Recap: Braelan Morgan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Redwater over Liberty-Eylau

Redwater lost against Liberty-Eylau back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Redwater Dragons lost 79-59 to the Liberty-Eylau Leopards. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 967th, while the Leopards are ranked 183rd).

Redwater's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braelan Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was Marquez Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Redwater was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Redwater and nudges their season record down to 13-19. As for Liberty-Eylau, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 31-0.

Redwater will face off against Atlanta at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Atlanta's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 matchups. As for Liberty-Eylau, they are taking a road trip to take on De Kalb at 6:05 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for De Kalb: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Liberty-Eylau has snatched up eight consecutive wins on the road.
