Softball Recap: Foothill Cougars vs. Red Bluff Spartans
There's no place like home for Foothill, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They never let the Red Bluff Spartans onto the board and left with a 5-0 win on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Foothill also won the last time the pair played on April 9th.
Elisea Wiegand made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Wiegand has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Wiegand was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
In other batting news, Lexi Peters was excellent, going 2-for-3 with a triple and a run. Morgan Kingsbury was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Foothill pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Red Bluff, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6-1.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Fernley the next time they take the field. Foothill will head out to face Fernley at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, while Red Bluff will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
