Medina never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Shaker Heights on Friday. They really took it to the Red Raiders for the full four quarters, racking up a 38-3 win. Given the Battling Bees' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Red Raiders are ranked 266th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Medina's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was River Blomquist, who threw for 286 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 77 yards. Those 286 passing yards gave Blomquist a new career-high. Medina's leading receiver Syd Lloyd was Blomquist's top target yet again, picking up 54 receiving yards, while also punching in two scores on the ground.

The win got Medina back to even at 2-2. As for Shaker Heights, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Medina will venture away from home to square off against Mentor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Battling Bees will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Shaker Heights, they will welcome Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Raiders will be up against the Blue Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 25.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
