Baseball Recap: Rocklin Takes Down Gregori in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Rocklin walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gregori Jaguars on Wednesday, sneaking past 6-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunder.

Rocklin got a great performance from Troy Ueltzen as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Ueltzen has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Paranick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Dylan Nusz was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Rocklin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Rocklin's record now sits at 22-6. As for Gregori, they dropped their record down to 17-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Rocklin will take on Turlock at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Thunder surely won't give up without a fight. Gregori does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
