Basketball Game Preview: Dunedin Falcons vs. Clearwater Tornadoes

Dunedin hasn't had much luck against Clearwater recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Dunedin Falcons will square off against the Clearwater Tornadoes at 6:30 p.m. Dunedin has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Monday, Dunedin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 72-66 to Boca Ciega. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (62), the Falcons still had to take the loss.

Dunedin might have lost, but man, DEONTE MACK was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was SHERWIN SIMMONS, who posted 12 points in addition to eight assists and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Dunedin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 25 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Clearwater was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Berkeley Prep. The matchup marked the Tornadoes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Dunedin's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-8. As for Clearwater, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Dunedin took a serious blow against Clearwater in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 57-22. Can Dunedin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
