Softball Game Preview: Northside Vikings vs. Franklin County Eagles

The Northside Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Franklin County Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Northside has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with seven straight losses, while Franklin County will come in with five straight wins.

On Thursday, Northside didn't have quite enough to beat Hidden Valley and fell 2-1.

Franklin County came out on top against Northside on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Eagles never let the Vikings get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by nine runs or more this season.

Brooke Weaver tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Franklin County got a big performance out of Mykenzie Weaver, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Madysen McCrickard, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Northside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Franklin County, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.

Northside suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Franklin County in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
