Basketball Recap: Dynamic duo of Max Robertson and Drew Miller lead Tri-West Hendricks to victory

Basketball Recap: Tri-West Hendricks Bruins vs. Martinsville Artesians

The Tri-West Hendricks Bruins waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 59-47 win over Martinsville. Given Tri-West Hendricks' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Artesians are ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Tri-West Hendricks to victory were Max Robertson and Drew Miller. Robertson scored 19 points, while Miller dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Miller also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jimmy Sorgi, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Martinsville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grady Gardner, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhys Wolf, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.

Tri-West Hendricks' win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Martinsville, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Tri-West Hendricks will be playing at home against the Sparkplugs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Cam Reich and Robertson. As for Martinsville, they will head out on the road to challenge the Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
