Baseball Recap: Randolph Southern Takes a Loss

Randolph Southern extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-6 in the process. They came up short against the Wes-Del Warriors, falling 12-2. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by exactly ten runs.

Noah Allen and Bryson Grimes did some serious damage despite the final result: Allen went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Grimes went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double. Allen has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

As for Wes-Del, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. The game marked their most dominant win of the season so far.

On Wes-Del's side, Carter Flynn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Flynn a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Summers, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. He also scored three runs, which is notable because Wes-Del is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Zachary Gillam also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Looking ahead, Randolph Southern will be playing in front of their home fans against Muncie Burris at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wes-Del, they will venture away from home to face off against Union City at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
