Recap: Boles Hornets vs. Cooper Bulldogs
The Boles Hornets fell victim to the Cooper Bulldogs''s stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 53-0 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Boles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1071st, while Cooper is ranked 265th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cooper to victory, but perhaps none more so than Markell Smith, who rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns. Smith really tore up the turf during one magnificent 81-yard run. Adryean Mapps was another key contributor, gaining 175 total yards and three touchdowns.
Boles' loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.8 points per game. As for Cooper, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Boles does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cooper will square off against Ore City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
