Baseball Game Preview: Eldon Mustangs vs. Sacred Heart Gremlins

The Eldon Mustangs will challenge the Sacred Heart Gremlins at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eldon will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Eldon lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Hallsville, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 11-4 victory on Wednesday.

Colten Bashore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bashore was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braden Bk Bennett, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kole Evers, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Eldon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Sacred Heart came out on top against St. Paul Lutheran on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Gremlins had just enough and edged out the Saints 9-8.

Eldon now has a winning record of 15-14. As for Sacred Heart, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.
