Recap: Thayer Central Titans vs. Centennial Broncos
If the Thayer Central Titans were feeling good off their 51-21 takedown of the Tri County Trojans last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Thayer Central lost to Centennial on the road by a decisive 38-24 margin on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Thayer Central has scored all season.
Thayer Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Natalie Tietjen, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Tietjen posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Piper Havel, who scored eight points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Thayer Central struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Thayer Central's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Centennial, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thayer Central will take on David City at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. David City is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Centennial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Doniphan-Trumbull at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Doniphan-Trumbull focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Thursday.
