Basketball Recap: Leadore Skates Past North Gem with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leadore). They claimed a resounding 59-32 win over the North Gem Cowboys. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.

Leadore found their leader in sophomore Dane Piippo, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Piippo has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Ramsey, who posted eight points and 12 rebounds.

Leadore smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

The win got Leadore back to even at 2-2. As for North Gem, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Leadore and Grace Lutheran will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Lutheran will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Leadore surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Gem, they will host Alturas Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
