Basketball Recap: Fairfield Comes Up Short

Fairfield's game on Friday was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 47-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pretty Prairie Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-26 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Fairfield saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kenley Fowler went 5-for-9 on her way to 12 points and three steals. Fowler has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Marissa Pugh also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Fairfield has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Pretty Prairie, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfield will square off against South Barber on Tuesday. Fairfield is facing South Barber at the right time seeing as South Barber is stuck on a five-game losing streak. We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Pretty Prairie has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
