Basketball Recap: Eldred Comes Up Short

Eldred was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Port Jervis Raiders. The Yellowjackets lost against the Raiders in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 33-5 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Eldred lost, don't look at Olivia Gonzalez. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 12 on her way to 19 points and five rebounds. That was a full 43.2% of Eldred's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Eldred's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Port Jervis, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eldred will square off against Chester at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Port Jervis, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Fallsburg at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
