Softball Game Preview: St. Joseph Knights vs. Poway Titans

The St. Joseph Knights will face off against the Poway Titans at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday. St. Joseph will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

St. Joseph proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by nine) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lompoc 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since February 28th.

St. Joseph let Annalyssa Cota and Kaycie Gavlak run wild. Cota went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Gavlak got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Cota has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Vienn Bowker, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: St. Joseph lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Poway had just enough and edged out Otay Ranch 4-3 on Monday. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Lindsey McCormick, who got on base in five of her seven plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Alyssa Menges was another key player, going 3-for-6 with two runs and one double.

St. Joseph's win bumped their record up to 12-2-1. As for Poway, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
