Baseball Recap: Clopton Comes Up Short

Clopton couldn't beat Palmyra on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Hawks fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-7.

Peter Daskalakis was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Adam Lindsay was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Clopton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

Clopton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Palmyra, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-9.

Coming up, Clopton will take on Louisiana at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Palmyra, they will venture away from home to challenge Kirksville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
