Softball Recap: Diboll Comes Up Short

Diboll entered their game against Pollok Central on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Diboll took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pollok Central. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Brooklyn Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Diboll saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jameah Robertson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Robertson also put up a home run, which was her first of the season.

Diboll's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Pollok Central, their win bumped their record up to 11-5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Diboll is set to take on their familiar foe Woodville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pollok Central will challenge rival Central Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pollok Central 3.4, Central Heights 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
