Willowbrook is 6-1 against Glenbard South since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Willowbrook will welcome Glenbard South at 4:30 p.m. Willowbrook will be strutting in after a win while Glenbard South will be coming in after a loss.
If Willowbrook beats Glenbard South with eight runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Willowbrook narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Leyden 8-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Noah Edison looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, Jake Bonino was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Glenbard South didn't have quite enough to beat Glenbard North on Friday and fell 11-10.
Tommy Burke put in work no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Burke was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Gavin Pogorzelski was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Tim Ewald was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Glenbard South's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Willowbrook, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Willowbrook took their win against Glenbard South when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 17-4. Does Willowbrook have another victory up their sleeve, or will Glenbard South turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
