La Costa Canyon took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Carlsbad 2-1. For Carlsbad's part, they had to settle for second despite strong performances on the mound from Weston Thornbury and Andrew Langer Thornbury pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits, while Langer pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
