Preview: Minerva Lions vs. Salem Quakers
Minerva is 2-8 against Salem since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Minerva Lions will be home for the holidays to greet the Salem Quakers at 6:45 p.m. Hopefully Minerva is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Salem in Ohio (Minerva is ranked 192nd, while Salem is ranked 535th).
Even though Minerva has not done well against Steubenville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Minerva had just enough and edged Steubenville out 46-44.
Meanwhile, Salem came up short against Alliance on Friday and fell 57-48. Salem has not had much luck with Alliance recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Minerva now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Salem, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Minerva ended up a good deal behind Salem in their previous meeting back in January, losing 59-43. Can Minerva avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
