Softball Game Preview: Argo Argonauts vs. Willowbrook Warriors

The Argo Argonauts will square off against the Willowbrook Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, Argo came up short against Tinley Park and fell 8-4. The Argonauts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Willowbrook and Addison Trail, and Willowbrook kept the tradition alive. The Warriors blew past the Blazers 12-2 on Wednesday. That looming 12-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.

The team relied heavily on Liz Pettinger, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Allison Coppersmith, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

Willowbrook pushed their record up to 5-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Argo, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Argo came out on top in a nail-biter against Willowbrook in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 11-10. Will the Argonauts repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
