Soccer Game Preview: Buena vs. Desert View

The Buena Colts will venture away from home to face off against the Desert View Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Buena's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Buena came up short against Cienega on Thursday, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Bobcats are ranked 16th).

Buena was without their leading scorer, Connor Tebo, in Thursday's game. With Tebo sidelined, Nathaniel Albertson got his first action of the season.

Meanwhile, Desert View waltzed into their match on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They skirted past the Rams 3-2.

Desert View pushed their record up to 13-4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Buena, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9-1.

Buena came up short against Desert View in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 4-2. Can Buena avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
