Baseball Recap: Union Mine Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

Union Mine barely beat Galt the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Diamondbacks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Warriors a 7-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Diamondbacks' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

Andrew Schurmann made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Matt Manfredi was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Austin Mastin was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

Union Mine is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Galt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.

Union Mine will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
