Baseball Recap: Cochranton Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Saegertown, Cochranton was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Rocky Grove Orioles. The Cardinals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Andrew Albert made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Albert was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bradyen Burnette, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Trent Hoban was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Cochranton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky Grove only posted an OBP of .294.

Cochranton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Rocky Grove, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cochranton will square off against rival Lakeview at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Rocky Grove is set to take on their familiar foe Saegertown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
