The Blue Valley Northwest Huskies had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed by Notre Dame de Sion on the road to the tune of 56-25. That's another feather in the cap for Blue Valley Northwest, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Blue Valley Northwest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lainie Douglas, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Elise Grosdidier was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Notre Dame de Sion's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Abby Wendte, who scored eight points along with five steals, and Taelyn Smith who scored nine points. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Wendte.
Blue Valley Northwest's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Notre Dame de Sion, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Blue Valley Northwest will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Olathe Northwest at 6:30 p.m. As for Notre Dame de Sion, they will square off against Liberty at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
