Basketball Recap: Gibbs Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Chase Norman and Zack Turner

If Gibbs was riding high fresh off their 65-29 takedown of Scott last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gibbs Eagles took a 71-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Anderson County Mavericks on Friday. The matchup was a 32-32 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Gibbs' loss came despite strong showings from Zack Turner and Chase Norman. Turner went 8 for 17 on his way to 21 points, while Norman went 5 of 9 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. The game was Turner's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brady Hughes, who posted five points.

Gibbs has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Anderson County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-7.
