Soccer Game Preview: Mecklenburg County vs. Magna Vista

Mecklenburg County is 0-5 against Magna Vista since April of 2023 but things could change on Wednesday. The Phoenix will head out to take on the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.

Mecklenburg County had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the three-goal drubbing they dealt George Washington on Tuesday. The Phoenix never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. Mecklenburg County haven't had any issues with George Washington recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Mecklenburg County hit George Washington with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Brooklynn Jackson, Caylie Nichols, and Emma Bohannon.

Meanwhile, Magna Vista got the win against Bassett on Monday by a conclusive 8-0. Considering Magna Vista have won four matches by more than seven goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Magna Vista is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those four games. As for Mecklenburg County, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Mecklenburg County suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Magna Vista when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Phoenix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
