Auburn suffered their closest loss since May 31, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Olympia Spartans by a score of 3-1. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Auburn saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Carlisle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Carlisle has hit this season.

Auburn's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-3. As for Olympia, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6-1.

Looking ahead, Auburn will square off against Greenfield/Northwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Olympia, they will take on Gillespie at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
