Basketball Recap: Winside Takes a Loss

Winside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Winnebago Indians, falling 70-24. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-18.

Despite the defeat, Winside saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tyler Paulsen posted 13 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Paulsen has scored all season.

Winnebago found their leader in sophomore Rahikim Free-Bass, who went 8 of 13 en route to 21 points. Another player making a difference was Kellen Medina, who had 12 points.

Winside's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Winnebago, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Winside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 75-49 defeat against Omaha Nation on the 14th. Winnebago has also already played their next game, a 71-35 win against Tri County Northeast on the 14th.
