Football Recap: Stigler Falls to Sallisaw in First Game of Season

Stigler kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a 27-0 loss at the hands of the Sallisaw Black Diamonds. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Black Diamonds since September 9, 2016.

Graham Easttom threw for 57 yards on seven of 14 attempts. On the ground, Morgan Peery rushed for 61 yards.

Sallisaw's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stigler will take on Mena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sallisaw, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Eufaula at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
