Basketball Game Preview: Trinidad Miners vs. Hoehne Farmers

The Trinidad Miners are taking a road trip to square off against the Hoehne Farmers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Trinidad is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Last Saturday, Trinidad was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to South Park.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Maya Morales, who posted eight points and five boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Danica Shipley, who had 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, everything went Hoehne's way against Las Animas on Saturday as Hoehne made off with a 48-24 win. The Farmers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Hoehne has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.9 points. Trinidad's loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Trinidad was dealt a bruising 82-17 defeat at the hands of Hoehne in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Trinidad, Janae Ramos (who went 7-for-12 to rack up 16 points and seven boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
