Basketball Recap: New Trier's Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

If New Trier was riding high fresh off their 65-22 takedown of Steinmetz College Prep last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The New Trier Trevians took a 77-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Millard South Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Trevians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 72nd in Illinois, while the Patriots are ranked fourth in Nebraska).

Carter Margheim was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 10 en route to 19 points along with five assists and five boards for Millard South. With that strong performance, Margheim is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Koby Meyers, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points.

With the loss, New Trier broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3. As for Millard South, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

New Trier wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 64-47 win against St. Charles North on the 26th. Millard South has also already played their next game, a 62-61 defeat against ThunderRidge on the 21st.
