Basketball Recap: Shawe Memorial Comes Up Short

After flying high against Columbus HomeSchool on Thursday, Shawe Memorial came back down to earth. The Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers took a 49-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Austin Eagles on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Hilltoppers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

It was another big night for Brynn Owens, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds for Austin. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which Owens has scored at least a third of Austin's points.

Shawe Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Austin, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Shawe Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-29 victory against Edinburgh on the 3rd. As for Austin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-20 win against South Dearborn on the 3rd.
