Baseball Game Preview: Rossford Bulldogs vs. Genoa Area Comets

The Rossford Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Genoa Area Comets at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Rossford will be strutting in after a victory while Genoa Area will be coming in after a loss.

On Monday, Rossford beat Fostoria 4-1.

Jackson Yerkes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rossford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Campbell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Landen Scherer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Genoa Area started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Oak Harbor. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockets on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Comets in their meetings with the Rockets: they've now lost four in a row.

Rossford's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Genoa Area, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Rossford suffered a grim 26-4 defeat to Genoa Area in their previous meeting on April 14th. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
