Baseball Recap: Trenton Wins Going Away Against Dodd City

Trenton made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Dodd City, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers blew past the Hornets 11-1 on Tuesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Landry Yowell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Yowell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Wyatt Davis was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Trenton is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Paxton Gonzalez, who scored two runs and stole four bases.

Trenton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dodd City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Trenton will challenge rival Sam Rayburn at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Dodd City is set to face off against their familiar foe Ector at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
