Baseball Recap: Mazama Find Success

Mazama took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Phoenix, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Pirates 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since March 20th.

Jayden Justice made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Justice wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Silas Kapitan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Those two hits gave Kapitan a new career-high.

The victory got Mazama back to even at 6-6-1. As for Phoenix, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-6.

Mazama will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
