Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Sylmar

Sylmar waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Reseda Regents with a sharp 18-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Analee Morales was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Morales was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Sylmar got a massive performance out of Maya Salceda, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Salceda is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Katherine Godoy was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Sylmar always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Sylmar's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.4 runs over those games. As for Reseda, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

Looking ahead, Sylmar will take on Grant at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Reseda, they have already played their next game, a 17-4 win against Monroe on the 28th.
