Softball Game Preview: Wyalusing Valley Rams vs. Montgomery Red Raiders

The Wyalusing Valley Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Montgomery Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wyalusing Valley will be strutting in after a win while Montgomery will be coming in after a defeat.

On Monday, Wyalusing Valley beat Canton 4-1. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Montgomery has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.6 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They came up short against Northwest Area, falling 13-1. The matchup marked the Red Raiders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Montgomery saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Houseknect, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Wyalusing Valley's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Montgomery, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 13-2.

Wyalusing Valley couldn't quite get it done against Montgomery when the teams last played back in May of 2021 as they fell 3-0. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
