Volleyball Recap: Torrington's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Torrington was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Ansonia Chargers 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their six-match losing streak.

In the three sets Torrington was on fire: they won each by at least 15 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-0, 0-25, 0-25, 25-0, 15-0.

Emily Jones paced Torrington's offense, picking up 11 kills. Jones got some help from Angelina Ciesco and her 12 assists. Ciesco was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Torrington's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Ansonia, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Torrington will challenge rival Crosby at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ansonia is set to take on their familiar foe Kennedy at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
