Basketball Recap: Wickliffe Comes Up Short

Wickliffe was the 62-58 winner over Jefferson Area when they last played one another back in December of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Wickliffe Blue Devils took a blow against the Jefferson Area Falcons on Wednesday, falling 82-40. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 570th, while the Falcons are ranked 228th).

Wickliffe has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. Jefferson Area is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Wickliffe will face off against Shaw at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wickliffe is facing Shaw at the right time seeing as Shaw is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Jefferson Area, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 85-47 win against McKinley on the 21st.
