Basketball Recap: Thompson Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Thompson can now relate to. They were dealt a 70-41 defeat at the hands of the Devils Lake Firebirds on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Tommies in their meetings with the Firebirds: they've now lost six in a row.

Thompson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Noah Hippen, who posted seven points, and Gavin Oster, who earned 11 points. Oster is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played.

Thompson's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Devils Lake, they pushed their record up to 23-1 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.

Thompson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-36 win against Central Cass on the 15th. Devils Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
