Basketball Recap: Conifer Takes a Loss

Conifer lost against Golden back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Conifer Lobos were dealt a 64-25 loss at the hands of the Golden Demons. The Lobos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Conifer saw an underclassman step up: freshman Izzy Ogdon went 7 for 8 en route to 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. With that strong performance, Ogdon is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Ashlyn Bates continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Golden, putting up 12 points along with six boards and four steals. Bates is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ceci Moran, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 11 points.

Conifer's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Golden, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-2.

Conifer will face off against Wheat Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Conifer is facing Wheat Ridge at the right time seeing as Wheat Ridge is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Golden, they will square off against D'Evelyn at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. D'Evelyn is on a ten-game streak of home wins, Golden a eight-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
