Softball Recap: South Iredell Gets the Win

South Iredell hadn't done well against Mooresville recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Vikings walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Blue Devils. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly five runs.

Caroline Constable made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addi Myers, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Carlee Haines, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for South Iredell and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Mooresville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

South Iredell wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-7 win against East Lincoln on the 2nd. As for Mooresville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-3 victory against North Iredell on the 2nd.
