The 2017 recruiting class is shaping up as a special one for the USC Trojans.

Just moments after getting a pledge from Arizona offensive tackle Austin Jackson, head coach Clay Helton also got good news from Jay Tufele of Bingham (South Jordan, Utah).

247Sports has Tufele pegged as the No. 41 overall recruit in the Class of 2017 and No. 3 defensive tackle. BYU, Michigan, Ohio State and Utah were also contenders for his services.

The 6-foot-3, 295-pound standout missed several weeks of his senior season with an injury but managed to receive All-State honorable mention from the Deseret News. Bingham went 14-1 and captured Utah's Class 5A state title.

Tufele participated in the US Army All-American Game in San Antonio last month.

As a junior, Tufele recorded 57 tackles and 10.5 sacks.
