Mt. Vernon's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 35-7 win over the East Newton Patriots. Considering the Mountaineers' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Mt. Vernon's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for East Newton, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
