Softball Game Preview: Southside Seahawks vs. Greene Central Rams

Southside is a perfect 4-0 against Greene Central since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Southside will challenge Greene Central at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Southside and 32 for Greene Central dating back to last season.

Southside managed to slip by North East Carolina Prep the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Southside lost 7-1 to North East Carolina Prep on Monday.

Lily McLean made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

Meanwhile, Greene Central fell victim to Ayden - Grifton and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Chargers, falling 14-0.

Southside's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Greene Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

Southside took their win against Greene Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 21-15. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southside since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
