Basketball Recap: Thomas Stone Falls Despite Big Games from Terrell Thompson and Brayden Brown

Thomas Stone was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 61-43 bruising from the Lackey Chargers. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Thomas Stone's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brayden Brown, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 14 points, and Terrell Thompson, who posted 12 points and five boards. Kaden Jackson was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Thomas Stone smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Malik Gordon was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with seven steals and five assists for Lackey. Gordon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 20 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kweli Tillman, who had nine points.

Thomas Stone's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Lackey, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.
