Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Vikings vs. Thornapple Kellogg Trojans

The Lakewood Vikings will head out to take on the Thornapple Kellogg Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lakewood is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Lakewood came up short against Waverly and fell 36-28.

Meanwhile, Thornapple Kellogg posted their biggest victory since January 3rd on Friday. They blew past Union 58-27. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th in Michigan, while the Red Hawks are ranked 423rd in Michigan), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Thornapple Kellogg's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12. As for Lakewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Lakewood beat Thornapple Kellogg 45-38 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakewood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
